Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that attacks the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord).

Enveloping and protecting the nerve fibers there is a material composed of proteins and fats called myelin, which facilitates the communication of nerve impulse between nerve fibers. In Multiple Sclerosis, there is demyelination of neurons in multiple areas of the central nervous system resulting in injuries (sclerosis), making the communication difficult or interrupting the communication of the nerve impulses from and to the brain and muscles, causing the onset of symptoms.

Symptoms:

- Visual: inflammation of the optic nerve (optic neuritis) is an early manifestation of the disease and its early symptoms are sometimes eye pain accompanied by headache, blurred vision, double vision, but rarely total loss of vision.

- Motor: muscle weakness, lack of balance, tremors, walking instability, lack of coordination, muscle spasms due to increasing tone flexor. Difficulties in speech, voice and articulation.

- Sensory: tingling, decreased in perineal and vaginal sensitivity, loss of the sense of position in one or both hands.
One of the hidden symptoms of multiple sclerosis is fatigue, it is difficult to assess objectively, so sometimes it is not given the corresponding importance.

- Anxiety.

- Depression.

- Urinary urgency. Genito urinary disorders: Partial or total incontinence, leakage.

- Sexual Disorders: After the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, a person must cope with changes in lifestyle and sexual relations. Often, we tend to ignore or deny the sexual difficulties and come to live without sexuality altogether or live in fear and insecurity. This can affect the level of intimacy between couples, creating tensions; suppression of feelings and reducing the overall level of satisfaction between partners.

- A Changes in mental capacity: deficits in memory, abstract reasoning, and speed in processing information.

- Changes in language, voice and speech: there are usually alterations of voice, affecting acoustic parameters, intensity, timbre and tone.

- Disorders in speech: we can recognize dysarthria (difficult, poorly articulated speech, it results from interference in the control over the muscles of speech, usually because of damage to a motor nerve, paralysis or ataxia Inability to coordinate voluntary muscular movements of speech) and bradilalia (slow but correct articulation)

- Disorders in language: there are several areas, oral language, literacy and cognition.

Multiple Sclerosis and Corticoids: "SIMPLE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY":

MS: is characterized by the attack of the immune system defenses or to the myelin sheath, during this process it creates a local inflammation of the myelin sheaths and around them, creating exaggerated symptoms that diminish or disappear with the implementation of CORTICOIDS.

Why?
They have the ability to act as an anti-inflammatory directly on the inflammation and block the defense or immunologic system.

What can happen to me if I use corticoids?
Apart from all its contraindications, the most important and destructive of these is the blocking of the production of ACTH by the pituitary gland and the plasmatic cortisol of the adrenal glands generating primary and/or secondary adrenal insufficiency.

As this happens it produces the ups and downs of the improvements achieved.
"The patient worsens, he/she is treated with corticoids and improves, time goes by patient worsens again, he/she is treated with corticoids and improves."

When the symptoms worsen the patient believes it is the progression of the disease but actually it is a cyclical hormonal alteration of the hypophysis and adrenal glands.

TO BETTER UNDERSTAND:

Diabetes: Sugar increases in the blood, insulin is administered and the sugar in the blood is normalized.
Hypothyroidism: I lose strength and slow down, I take T3 and T4 and all is back to normal.

The ups and downs of the improvements by corticoids.

CORTICOIDS

. Patients that have taken cortocoids previous to the phytotherapeutic treatment of Dr. Ayrad should be first evaluated by our medical staff in order to gradually reduce the effects of the treatment, since its abrupt stop can cause relapses of the improvements achieved.

Why does it happen?
The administration of corticoids during neurological diseases generates a decrease in the production of endogenous plasmatic cortisol, generating a widespread loss of strength, weakness, fatigue, anorexia, sensitivity in the areas affected by the disease, loss of balance and in some cases pain in the limbs.

What is PLASMATIC CORTISOL?
It is our own corticoids which are produced by the adrenal glands located above the kidneys. Corticoids decrease the production of cortisol by blocking the hypophysial ACTH responsible for stimulating the adrenal glands to produce plasmatic cortisol.

What should I do if I have these symptoms?
Take exactly the dose of corticoids until you again recover the improvements achieved and subsequently see your endocrinologist for evaluation and the analysis of blood, complete blood count, plasmatic cortisol, ACTH (adrenocorticotrophin) and other complementary studies suggested by the professional.

What other symptoms can appear with the reduction of PLASMATIC CORTISOL?
In short: Some patients will have to be treated for a long time with CORTICOIDS as a substitute medication due to a failure of the pituitary gland to produce ACTH or the adrenal gland to produce PLASMATIC CORTISOL.

FURTHER INFORMATION:
See suprarenal primary and secondary insufficiency.

X-ray of the lumbar vertebral column and both hips.

Multiple Sclerosis , usually affects more the left/right half of the vertebral body, creating a lateral curvature to the side that’s more affected producing a clamping of vertebras on nerves, usually the most afflictive are the Lumbar Vertebral Column and Sacrum this increases the pain, loss of motor skills and sensitivity, this symptomatology is not due to MS but to the riding of a vertebra over another (Lumbar 4 on 5 or Lumbar 5 on Sacrum 1)

 CERVICAL SPINAL COLUMN:
Its deviation increases disorders of balance and sensitivity in hands.

 Displacement of vertebras :
In some cases it can compress the modular canal clamping the Spinal Cord increasing or generating, pain, paralysis, rigidity, hypotonia, disorders of the urinary bladder and anal sphincters, leading to inability to control urination or defecation, in the presence of these symptoms the doctor will request a Magnetic Resonance of the Lumbar Vertebral Column and Sacrum.

Overweight and Obesity:
Overloads the skeleton producing weakness in lower limbs, fatigue and increases the deviations of lumbar vertebral column and both hips.

Losing weight is essential to obtaining greater effectiveness in the treatment.
This pathology affects over 8,000 Argentines.

WITH RESPECT TO THE MEDICATION YOU RECEIVE.

Continue with the medication that your neurologist, ophthalmologist, etc. has given you.

NEVER self-medicate or allow non-medical persons tell you what to take.

If you are taking corticoids:
When receiving this type of medication you must carry on with the precautions indicated previously. That is:

1. DO NOT suspended your medication without instructions from your physician nor hold off your medication as this could have serious consequences to your health.

2. This is because the continuous intake of corticoids produces a decrease in the chain production of your own corticoids which is the ACTH hormone and its product the PLASMATIC CORTISOL. That is, on receiving an external corticoid the internal corticoid stops producing.

IF YOU STOP TAKING THEM, YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS SUCH AS HYPOTENSION, LOSS OF STRENGTH, WEAKNESS, TIREDNESS, LOSS OF BALANCE, ETC. WHICH ARE NOT PLEASANT AND CAN BE DANGEROUS.

3. During this new therapeutic treatment - no doubt you will begin to experience a marked improvement - which always is administered gradually and evenly - as it happens it is possible that the taking of corticoids will be regulated by your physician in a different manner.
